Songfacts®:

  • Two Door Cinema Club are an art-pop group from Bangor, Northern Ireland. After forming in 2007, the group gave up university places after things started taking off and got themselves signed to hip Parisian label Kitsune. The band's name came about after one of the members mispronounced the name of the local cinema, Tudor Cinema, and it stuck.
  • This is their debut single from their first album Tourist History. It was only the second album finished at Phillipe Zadar's new studio after Phoenix's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.
  • Zdar mixed the album but it took the Frenchman a day before he understood the band's Northern Irish accents. He told NME: "Their stuff was already tight - I was just able to give big bass, big highs and something a bit large! They are completely crazy about music- there is not one hour when they don't listen or download something from a blog. They remind me of me when I was a teenager."
  • Tourist History won the 2010 Choice Music, which is an annual music award given to the best Irish album from a chosen year.
