Songfacts®:

  • This Casio-synth pop-rocker is an ode to a girl who has introduced Rivers Cuomo to the pop rock band Sparks.
  • Most of the lyrics were written by Against Me's Laura Jane Grace. Cuomo told Entertainment Weekly that she sent them to him as text messages, and he turned them into a song.
  • The bridge came from an early demo that Cuomo had filed away dating back to 1991. He told Entertainment Weekly it was "a very early-'90s grunge Soundgarden-type of song, which they re-imagined "as this French-pop '60s thing with a drum machine."
