Songfacts®:

  • Don't be fooled by the title -Young Thug and Gunna haven't taken up winter sports. Rather, "Ski" finds the YSL Records duo rapping about a myriad of topics, from Thugger's Lamborghini convertible ("lamb chop") to Gunna shouting out rapper Bobby Shmurda and his shmoney dance ("I'm in New York counting shmoney").
  • The two rappers recorded the song for the Young Stoner Life collective's Slime Language 2 compilation. The record comprises 23 tracks featuring YSL label boss Young Thug and various Young Stoner Life signees, including Gunna and other guest artists. Thugger and Gunna, whose relationship has evolved from mentor/mentee to close friends, collaborated on six of the songs.
  • The production is courtesy of:

Newcomer Lil Justin aka BabyWave. He also contributed to another of the Slime Language 2 tracks: "Came Out."

Dutch producer Tobias "Outtatown" Dekker. A regular Lil Uzi collaborator, his credits include "Venetia" and "Sasuke."

Frequent Young Thug collaborator Wesley "Wheezy" Glass. He has seven placements on Slime Language 2, including the Drake collaboration "Solid."
  • Thug created the TikTok-friendly "Ski" Dance Challenge, where participants pretend to ski along to the beat.
