  • Luna Loud from Royal Woods, MichiganRick, what are "left-handed cigarettes"? Never heard that term before. Is that another name for the wacky weed? (forgive me, I was born in the 2000's)
  • Rick from Lawsonville , NcI saw the experience in 68. Very enlightening and, living in the south ,the first time i saw white kids with long hair in person and smelled left handed cigarettes. We had a small soul group ,but played a few rock song covers also. In our area if you didnt play soul ,you didnt get any gigs, folks wanted to dance and its how you met girls. If you just got up there and played spacey hippie music nobody could dance to it. I'm a guitarist and really enjoy , other than Hendrix unreal guitar work , his "funk" ,which is what most Hendrix cover folks cant capture. He was really a funk player that blended it with rock styles. Drummers lead bands and Mitch Mitchell had formal jazz instruction ,making him perfect foil for Hendrix. Also, with eight Marshall and Sunn amps , they were loud - but a good loud. Later ,saw lots of loud bands that just hurt my ears. Also, being a Who fan , i quickly picked up on the backing la-la-la vocals in this song as sounding alot like Moon/ Entwhistle vocals. Moon was big fan of radio jingles , and they had lots on early records. I think the Experience did alot of shows with the Who around 67.
  • Renfield from Long Island, N.y.I was revisiting this tune 52 years later and thought, "This is a Who tribute." I looked to see if anyone else thought the same and found Rob's comment. Funny because in the Spring of 1967 I saw Cream and The Who live in NYC and later in July 1967 I saw Jimi's Experience also in NYC. Thanks Rob!
  • Rob from Plainfield, NjGreat tune. Different vibe with Hendrix not writing and lead singing. (He wasn't always a frontman and played for some GREAT acts). Always thought this was a nod to Pete Townsend. Very "Who" sounding song, the Experience started out opening for the Who, Townsend & Hendrix were friends as a result and I can't believe Redding didn't pick up an Pete's style while they toured. (Wouldn't be surprised if Townsend actually contributed.)
  • Mark B. Stoned from Desperate Hot Springs, CaThis is such an excellent psychedelic-pop song. I love Hendrix's falsetto backing vocal. Beautiful.
  • George from Calumet City, IlGreat, underrated song. Noel Redding was a pretty good singer back then it seems.
