I'm looking at you through the glass Don't know how much time has passed Oh God it feels like forever But no one ever tells you that forever Feels like I'm sitting all alone inside your head
How do you feel, that is the question But I forget, you don't expect an easy answer When something like a soul becomes initialized And folded up like paper dolls and little notes You can't expect to bitter folks And while you're outside looking in Describing what you see Remember what you're staring at is me
'Cause I'm looking at you through the glass Don't know how much time has passed All I know is that it feels like forever When no one ever tells you that forever Feels like home, sitting all alone inside your head
How much is real, so much to question an epidemic of the mannequins Contaminating everything When thought came from the heart It never did right from the start Just listen to the noises (No more sad voices) Before you tell yourself It's just a different scene Remembering is just different from what you've seen
I'm looking at you through the glass Don't know how much time has passed And all I know is that it feels like forever When no one ever tells you that forever Feels like home, sitting all alone inside your head
[Chorus] And it's the stars The stars that shine for you And it's the stars The stars that lie to you
I'm looking at you through the glass Don't know how much time has passed Oh God it feels like forever But no one ever tells you that forever Feels like home, sitting all alone inside your head
'Cause I'm looking at you through the glass Don't know how much time has passed All I know is that it feels like forever But no one ever tells you that forever Feels like home, sitting all alone inside your head
[Chorus: x 2]
The stars The stars that lie

Chop from Salem Massim bi polar pshyco with xtreme schitz and this song gives me anxiety for some reason, i quit hard drugs at _30 and on came the disorders,2 of my 5 personalities like it, make that 3 chop
Jean A Timme from WisconsinThis song reminds me of being in jail/prison and looking at my family and children during visitation behind thick glass and sitting alone in my head in the cell block, and it seems like an eternity... :(
Brittanie from Dallas TxI have schizophrenia and this song reminds me of how I feel being disconnected from my body in a sense. I didn't develop it until I was 30 so I wasn't always this way, but since I've developed it it's almost like I feel like a different person and my soul is on the outside looking in. It's the most God awful thing I've ever experienced
Lisa Renee from FlIts definitely a twin flame song..i am on the journey myself
Kim from MdFor me when I heard it for the first time represented looking at someone through the glass who they are in love, infatuated, or possibly obsessed with who they will never have. They look at pictures and videos...read stories of this person and do not measure the passing time. Still...it is a comfort to them...forever feels like home...or a madness...alone inside their head. The stars they shine the stars they lie to you. They are not real. A viewpoint from someone who's looked through the glass.
Cristie @pinkfiencris from Tuscaloosa AlabamaTBH I was locked up when this song came out . It has so many meanings for me.. especially the hook, looking at you thru the glass.
Dad from AzThis song reminds me of my daughters recent episode of Bipolar disorder with psychosis. The de-realization and bits on time feeling slower really hit home.
MaxIt’s definitely about him being in jail talking to someone through the glass on the phone. In most counties they don’t have physical visits you sit in a both and talk to your loved ones through a plexiglass window and it really sucks. And being in jail you try not to focus on the time and it feels like forever and you sit inside your head whenever your locked in and not on block out. If you’ve been to jail you know.
Gotcha from Florence, South CarolinaIts what it says it means up under his pic here up top, although I had a very disturbed crazy whore you told me it reminder her of us lol when there is no us and she was trying to take over my guy friends when I left with her whore powers but it didn't work, I guess what I gather is music (songs) can mean what we want it to of what it makes us feel regardless of its true meaning some folks are just to insecure to admit there wrongs or hurt so they use a misturptation of a song as a excuse to there true feeling to build there self up which is sad and demented instead of getting true help to be happy. Trying to live beyond ones means or like anothers life.
Piku from FloridaEven though this song was written before things like this really could happen, to me this song is about thinking about a recent breakup alone, and watching things go down online, being subject to isolation from the people you used to call friend, and watching them support that person that you used to date, all while talking crap about you.
Meatsack from Arizona I like Psychsoul from Arizona's idea of it being about depersonalization/derealization disorder I don't have that full blown but have experienced it in my life and a lot recently
That Guy from ChicagoIts about using DMT... Looking through a scope wondering whats real. Its a short "ride" that feels like forever but when your done you realize FOREVER is in your head and alone in your head. Not alone as far as no people!
Sarianne from United States I thought this song was about a dad on a prison phone looking at his daughter through the glass. And regretting his decisions . I never seen the video till now.
Yes from Floridai thought of stalking, cuz he lookin at me through my window.
Psychsoul from ArizonaThis song screens depersonalization/ derealization disorder....
Lori from Mi.Project looking glass! Look into it. I see this song in a whole new light! Mind blown BOOM!
Jake from AlexIt's a conversation with ones self. "While you're outside looking in, describing what you see, remember what you're staring at is me". The glass is a mirror. Looking back at yourself, all of your f--ks ups, "forever feels like home, sitting all alone inside your head". It's a song about self doubt. Being lonely.
Richard from PcbPretty sure this song was dedicated to a goldfish.
Sarah from Chattanooga TnI was told that this song is about smoking meth cause he's looking at it through the glass get it.
Noel from Vegas, NvI always thought this song was about an animal spending all it's life in a zoo, watching all the people go by and doing nothing.
Phil from Boise, IdThis song may have been written about surviellance and satellites. You might want to check out the potential disaster that the US faced in 2006 from terrorists that had gained access to directed energy weaponry - see persian gulf war - oh, and that is my voice singing "No more scattered voices" as it relates to the previous commentary. Even for us civilians the war has been very difficult. Peace always, Phil
April from Galveston, TxThis song makes me think of a person who is avoiding the outside world, and someone admires that person and views that person through their window. The person see's how much the person inside has regret of the outside world. The stars represent dreams, and when that person in the home has the dreams that he/she cant accomplish, that person feels lied to and like nothing. The person on the outside knows how the person on the inside feel's; alone and like nothing is worth it, but the person on the outside see's how special the person on the inside is. I know how it feels. I'm stuck inside my home all the time, and I have one person who believes I can follow my dreams, while i feel trapped by my parents. I look at the stars and see something special, but can never reach that goal.
Randy from Branford, CtAnd @ Oliver...Corey Taylor is the only one who is in both bands.
Randy from Branford, CtWow...I always thought this was about staring at a picture of a loved one (framed) or maybe through a computer, and missing them or reflecting about a failing relationship. I don't watch videos so I never found out from that
Kris from Rochelle, IlCorey Taylor Quote:I remember exactly where I was. It was 2004 and I was on tour with Slipknot. I was sitting in a European hotel room watching a music video channel, seeing act after act after act of this insane, innocuous, plastic music. They were plastic, bubbly, gossamer-thin groups where it was really more about the clothes they wore and the length of their cheekbones than it was about the content of the song they were singing. It really made me mad. I was like, is this it? Have we just gone full circle? Did the singer/songwriter revolution never happen? Is it just the same drivel from the same replicate over and over again? 'Through Glass' is really a very angry song. It's me basically calling 'bulls--t' on pretty much everyone involved with the 'American Idol'-type shows. It has its place, but when you're basically cornering the market and making it very hard for anyone who actually writes their own music to get ahead, then it's wrong and that's really why I wrote this song.
Kadie from Easton, PaIt's about tabloids. Just listen to the lyrics. People talking about you and being so fake.
Sparky from Berea , Kythis is one of my favorite songs of all time corey taylor whooo hooo!
Oliver from Atlanta, GaI'm amazed that anyone from Slipknot can actually make a somewhat okay song. The thing that's even more amazing is that this is a really great song.
Alexander from Dubai, United Arab EmiratesDrawing a very thin line between 'Reality' and 'Possible Actuality', Corey Taylor has indeed spread the subtle nuance. To be more direct, the song moves on like its message.. Move on.. its about Y.O.U.R past.. that is when you reflect back at yourself. You could easily drown in thoughts of former instances of your dirtiest actions.. Move on..is the message of this song. Read the following carefully.. "through the looking glass" .. this could also imply mostly the same, but it is not complete. 'The Looking Glass' is your mirror.. it 'feels like forever' .. 'sitting all alone inside your head.. How much is Real ?? That is the question
Olav Salhus from Stavanger, NorwayStone Sour is awesome, but lets not hate the band Slipknot. They are very good so be nice :P
Joel from Lawrence, KsWow. I had no idea that Corey Taylor could actually sing as opposed to the screaming his does with Slipknot. I don't like Slipknot and those kinds of musical groups but I do like this song. Perhaps its because he sings on this one and doesn't scream obseninities and it actually sounds good. As far as the meaning I would say the song is about somebody who is disillusioned with his world and it may also be about mental illness.
Shannon from Pheonix, AzTruly there are many meanings the one I heard was about corey quitting the booze and one I made up was about being in prison......
Blake from Tahlequah, OkThis song makes me think about Pink Floyd it has so many meanings! It reminds me of the guy that we have all seen walking down the street....or maybe yourself when you feel like everyone is looking at you and no one else....almost like you are about to explode from the pressure....kick ass song though one of my favorites !!!
Daniel from Dayton, TxThs Song is about corey kid. through the glass refers 2 the glass in the nursery at the hospital were you can see your newborn. when he says it feels like forever corey is talking about not being able to get his kid. if you think about it, it makes sense. When corey says when something like a soul becomes initialized and folded up like paper dolls and little notes refers to baby paper work for its info.
Spinz from Middletown, NyThis song is actually talking to you. You the person, through the TV glass. he doesnt know how much time has passed because he is on TV. You dont expect an easy answer because your mind is organized by media (paper dolls and sound bites) and some part of you sees PAST that shallow world. But remember, he is being REAL when you look at him. So what is real when you are bombarded by media mannequins that tell you how life is supposed to be? Media is NOT to be belived because it is differant than what you see in real life and the voices in your head are trying to tell you that it doesnt add up. The media highlights and Stars are there to distract and lie to you so that you will ignore the doubts and do what they say, because life is supposed to be the way they tell you. The Media Stars are lying to you. So, who stars do you believe in? Those are the people that are lying and they are the lies you believe.
Cooter from Charlotte, NcIncredibly complex song sharing the best trait of any great song! In addition to being well written, the message can be applied to so many things in ones life ... both public and intensely personal.
Bruce from Long Branch, NjHeard this on a rock station. Not bad.
Justin from San Diego, Cathe slipknot singer, Corey, is singing about the time he almost committed suicide but he was stopped by his wife
he was on a window cleaning place...his wife saw him THROUGH THE GLASS
Slain from Nunya, VaYes, the celebrity thing is right... through glass, could be referring to a television screen.
Kenny from Wilmot, Nhthis cd is stuck in my cd player...AWESOME!!!
Steve from Liverpool, EnglandWhat a song!! Well sung, great lyrics, fantastic tune, stone sour are one of the best rock bands around at this time.
Dana from Hoover, AlI always thought it was about being in jail. He's talking to his loved one behind the glass on those little phone booths and don't know how much time has passed meaning he's in there for a long time. But the commercialism thing sounds right. Thanks guys!
Mike from Santa Barbara, CaThis is one of the better songs about life in Hollywood, portraying it in a negative light.
Ashleigh from Biloxi, Msi was toldthat this song is about corey's wife dying while she was giving birth to his child...and that when he says 'looking at you through the glass...he's talking about the room babys are put in when theyre born. is this true?
Mike from Santa Barbara, CaThe video does a great job of reinforcing the lyrics, about the two-diminsional commercialism of people in show business, especially executives and their syncophants.
Sid from Desmoines, IaI STILL PREFER 30-30-150!!
Mariko from Ottawa, CanadaThere is an mp3 floating around (they say) with two beeps added. What is the deal behind it? Is it due to an anticopy measure, or maybe it was issued as a sample?
Jameson from Lexington, KyOne of my favorite songs, from one of my favorite bands. It applies to a lot more than just the music industry, too...
Luke from Manchester, EnglandIn England, VH-1 is the decen station, with MTV being the one that tries to forcefeed people the crap "urban" music and what they think is right to worship
Sam from Portsmouth, VaI connected to this song because on vh1 people worship celebrities without thinking about their own lives.
