  • Two worlds collide
    Rival nations
    It's a primitive clash
    Venting years of frustrations
    Bravely we hope
    Against all hope
There is so much at stake
    Seems our freedom's up
    Against the ropes
    Does the crowd understand?
    Is it East versus West
    Or man against man?
    Can any nation stand alone?

    In the burning heart
    Just about to burst
    There's a quest for answers
    An unquenchable thirst
    In the darkest night
    Rising like a spire
    In the burning heart
    The unmistakable fire

    In the burning heart

    In the warrior's code
    There's no surrender
    Though his body says stop
    His spirit cries, never
    Deep in our soul
    A quiet ember
    Knows it's you against you
    It's the paradox
    That drives us on
    It's a battle of wills
    In the heat of attack
    It's the passion that kills
    The victory is yours alone

    In the burning heart
    Just about to burst
    There's a quest for answers
    An unquenchable thirst
    In the darkest night
    Rising like a spire
    In the burning heart
    The unmistakable fire

    In the burning heart
    Just about to burst
    There's a quest for answers
    An unquenchable thirst
    In the darkest night
    Rising like a spire
    In the burning heart
    The unmistakable fire

    In the burning heart
    Just about to burst
    There's a quest for answers
    An unquenchable thirst
    In the darkest night
    Rising like a spire
    In the burning heart
    The unmistakable fire

  • Patrick Longworth from Okanagan Falls, British Columbia, CanadaI love this site already! I love learning the background behind my favourite songs. Burning Heart didn't eclipse Eye of the Tiger but frankly Survivor did a brilliant job anyway.
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn this day in 1986 {January 26th} "Burning Heart" by Survivor peaked at #2* {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Top 100 chart, for the two weeks it was at #2, the #1 record for both those weeks was "That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne & Friends...
It reached #1 in Belgium and #5 in the United Kingdom...
"Burning Heart" spent twenty two weeks on the Top 100 chart...
Between 1980 and 1989 the Chicago quintet had eighteen Top 100 records, five made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "Eye of the Tiger", for six weeks in 1982...
Survivor's lead singer Jimmy Wayne Johnson passed away at the age of 63 on September 1st, 2014...
    May he R.I.P.
    * And from the 'For What It's Worth' department, the remainder of the Top 10 for January 26th, 1986:
At #3. "I'm Your Man" by Wham!
#4. "Talk To Me" by Stevie Nicks
#5. "Say, You, Say Me" by Lionel Richie
#6. "My Hometown" by Bruce Springsteen
#7. "When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going" by Billy Ocean
#8. "Spies Like Us" by Paul McCartney
#9. "Walk of Life" by Dire Straits
#10. "Go Home" by Stevie Wonder...
  • Julian from Quebec, Onthanks, joshua from the twin cities, for making sure that the song isn't mistaken for the song we're told in tfa not to mistake it with. worthy contribution. dink.
  • Jeff from Austin, TxThis is Ivan Drago's favorite song.
  • Matthew from Milford, MaI LOVE THIS SONG!!!! In my opinion, it's roughly equal to "Eye of the Tiger." I like the two songs roughly equally, as I can't seem to decide which one I'm more fond of. "Eye of the Tiger" is definitely the better "pump up" song, for fight scenes and stuff like that. On the other hand, as Mike pointed out, "Burning Heart" is a great motivation song, emphasizing the importance of strength of character. I can identify myself quite well in the lyrics to "Burning Heart", and it may displace Smash Mouth's "Walkin' On The Sun" as the theme song to one of my OCs. Yeah, I can see why "Eye of the Tiger" is more popular than this song, but "Burning Heart" is really every bit as good as its predecessor.
  • Mike from Hueytown , AlGreat motivation song. Survivor should get more credit.
  • Joshua from Twin Cities, MnThis is not to be confused with a different song called "Burning Heart" recorded a few years earlier by the Dutch group Vandenberg, for whom that was their only hit song.
