Isn't It Time

Album: Broken Heart (1977)
Charted: 45 13
  • Falling in love was the last thing I had on my mind
Holding you is a warmth that I thought I could never find
    (Sitting here all alone)
    Just trying to decide
    (Whether to go all alone)
    Or stay by your side
    (Then I stop myself because)
    I know I could cry
I just can't find the answers
To the questions that keep going through my mind
    Hey babe
    Isn't it time
(Isn't it time it took time to wait)
(Falling in love could be your mistake)
    Isn't it time
(Isn't it time you took time to wait)
(Falling in love could be your mistake)
I've seen visions of someone like you in my life
A love that's strong reaching out
Holding me through the darkest night
    (Sitting here all alone)
    Just trying to decide
    (Whether to go all alone)
    Or stay by your side
    (Then I stop myself because)
    I don't want to cry
I just can't find the answers
To the questions that keep going through my mind
    Hey babe
    Isn't it time
(Isn't it time it took time to wait)
(Falling in love could be your mistake)
    Isn't it time
(Isn't it time you took time to wait)
(Falling in love could be your mistake)
I feel a warmth in my heart
And my soul that I never knew
This love affair gives me strength
That I need just to get me through
    (Sitting here all alone)
    Just wondering why
    (Then I stop myself because)
    I know I could cry
    (Then I think of you)
    And everything seems alright
    I've finally found the answers
To the questions that keep going through my mind
    Hey babe
    Isn't it time
(Isn't it time you don't have to wait)
    (Don't have to wait)
    I know it's time
(Losing this love could be your mistake)
    Ooh yeah
    (Isn't it time)
    I know it's time
(Isn't it time you don't have to wait)
    It must be time
    (Don't have to wait)
(Losing this love could be your mistake)
    (Isn't it time)
    It must be time
(Isn't time you don't have to wait)
    (Don't have to wait)
    It oughta be time
(Losing this love could be your mistake)
    (Isn't it time)
(Isn't it time you don't have to wait)
    (Don't have to wait)
    It must be time
(Losing this love could be your mistake)
    (Isn't it time)

  • Tommy From The U.s. from Philadelphia Melinda, not sure where you got your timeline, but “Saturday Night Fever” was released at the same time as “Isn’t It Time.” (“How Deep Is Your Love” was the #1 song in the U.S. when “Isn’t It Time” peaked.) As for your claim that disco was going out fashion in 1977, that certainly wasn’t true in the U.S., where seven of the top ten songs for the entire year of 1979 — two years after “Isn’t It Time” peaked— were disco songs.
  • Melinda from AustraliaThe amazing back up singers of this beautiful song were The Babbettes. They were the number 1 gospel/choir in the U.S at the time. And the band The Baby’s have stated somewhere that they were extremely lucky to get them at the time. The subject of the song is obvious, it was written by a man who was in France on business. And he met a French girl. That he wanted to have a serious relationship with but was really hesitant. It’s an outstanding powerful and underrated song. The piano at the into is really pretty. Given the time it came out it has a disco feel. But by the time this released ‘disco’ was on its way out of fashion. Despite Saturday Night Fever by the Bee Gees being released the previous year
  • Tom from AzOK, who are the backup singers in this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MC4QCidHrs
  • Alan from Forest Acres, ScJonathan Cain was brought in in 1979 and left for Journey in 1981. His first album with the Babys was Union Jack.
  • Brent from Denair, CaSo, Jonathan Cain of Journey fame started with them after this album? I noticed that was not him on keyboards in the video.
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn December 7th, 1977, a video of the Babys' "Isn't It Time" was aired on the ABC-TV program 'American Bandstand'...
Two months earlier on October 8th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; and on December 18th it peaked at #13 (for 1 week) and spent 16th on the Top 100...
It reached #1 (for 1 week) on March 27th, 1978 on the Australian Kent Music Report chart.
  • John from St. Paul, KsIt's a good song, but I like "Everytime I Think of You" better. John Waite had a good solo career inbetween being with the Babys and Bad English.
  • Lee from Huntsville, Alat first the guy listens to the voice in his head and hesitates to give in(stay cold and heartless),"falling in love could be your mistake",but later the voice tells him that it's ok to be in love afterall,"loosing this love could be your mistake". love makes you crazy!
the ole follow your heart or your head delimma.
