  • I can't sleep nights
Wishing you were here beside me
Can't help believe that's the way you got to be
You know we could run all the way
And I couldn't bear to leave the lips they say, oh no

Baby let's pretend that tonight we'd meet forever
If we close our eyes and believe that night came true
Baby let's pretend we could always be together
But all night just met me spend the night with you

Somehow, someday things are gonna be so different
Don't cry someway, I promise it will be alright
So how that we're all alone I couldn't bear to leave
And take you home, oh no

Baby let's pretend that tonight we'd meet forever
If we close our eyes and believe that night came true
Baby let's pretend we could always be together
But all night just met me spend the night with you

So take me now, my love can't wait
We all must stand now darling, darling
Hold me, hold me, hold me

Baby let's pretend that tonight we'd meet forever
If we close our eyes and believe that night came true
Baby let's pretend we could always be together
But all night just met me spend the night with you

Baby let's pretend that tonight we'd meet forever
If we close our eyes and believe that night came true
Baby let's pretend we could always be together
But all night just met me spend the night with you Writer/s: ERIC CARMEN

  • Joe Postove from IsraelDid this song exit and then reenter the Hot 100 at some point?
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn March 31st 1973, the Raspberries performed "Let's Pretend" on the ABC-TV program 'American Bandstand'...
At the time the song was at #76 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; nine weeks later on May 27th, 1973 it would peak at #35 {for 1 week} and spent 16 weeks on the Top 100...

  • Rick from Belfast, MeThe beginning of this song reminds me of the Beatles song "The Night Before" from the Help album.....
  • Rick from Belfast, MeTod....I agree.....this song was what helped make the 70's music rock!
  • Tod from Las Vegas, NvCompletely underrated song. Should have been top ten. Carmen borrowed from this to write All By Myself, which also borrowed from a classical song. Carmen is about as detailed a mind as you can get. I wish he would write more. He is brilliant.
  • Steve from Salt Lake City, UtThe Raspberries had several pretty good songs that were all better than anything Eric Carmen did on his own. Surprising they didn't become bigger than they were.
  • David from Flushing, MiThe Raspberries reformed in 2007 for a live concert in LA and performed a very good version of this song. It is on their Live on Sunset Strip album from that live performance in 2007.
