Songfacts®:

  • "God Gave Me Style" has rap icon 50 Cent listing all the gifts that God has given him: style, grace, persistence, intelligence, and eloquence. He confesses to feeling like he's been specially chosen to be "the one," but the song goes against the common rap tradition of flexing through music. The vibe feels more like gratitude and appreciation, humility in the face of God's blessings, and 50 wants to brighten the whole world through his talents:

I put a message in my music, hope it brightens your day
If times are hard, when you hear it, know you'll be okay
  • "God Gave Me Style" first appeared on 50's second album, The Massacre, in 2005. The album proved that his landmark debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003), was no fluke. The Massacre spent six weeks at #1 and sold over 6 million copies. The big hits from the album were "Disco Inferno" and "Candy Shop."
  • In 2025, 50 released a new, Motown-style version created with artificial intelligence. He dropped it on Instagram with the post, "This version lets you see my vision. It's softer!"
  • "God Gave Me Style" samples a 1973 Eddie Kendricks song called "Each Day I Cry a Little."
  • At the end of "God Gave Me Style," 50 shouts out several prominent religious leaders in the Black community, including T.D. Jakes and Bishop Morton.
