Songfacts®:

  • Tragedy struck on June 7, 2017, when Anne Wilson's older brother, Jacob Wilson, lost his life in a devastating car accident. Jacob's death at 23 left a void that could never be filled.

In this intimate tribute, Anne Wilson pours her heart out, recounting the profound impact her brother had on her life and capturing the anguish that accompanies the loss of a loved one. Through her words, she bares her soul, sharing the depths of her pain while finding solace in her unyielding faith and steadfast beliefs.
  • Wilson not only pays homage to her brother's memory, but also extends a compassionate hand to those who find themselves grappling with their own journey of profound grief. Her words resonate with those who have experienced the heartache of losing someone dear, offering comfort and understanding in the face of unimaginable sorrow.

"'Seventh of June' is a song that was written about the day that forever changed my life. The day that I lost my big brother Jacob in a tragic car accident," shared Wilson. "No matter how much time passes, this is a day that will always be so important to me. I really pray this song impacts people and reminds them that it's OK to grieve. Jesus is with us in the midst of it all!! This is for you, Jacob."
  • Wilson's life took a major turn in the wake of Jacob's passing, as she went on a transformative journey of self-discovery and musical purpose. At Jacob's funeral, Wilson found her voice when she delivered a heartfelt rendition of Hillsong Worship's "What A Beautiful Name."

When Wilson shared a video of herself singing "What A Beautiful Name" on YouTube, the video led to a life-changing moment when she was offered a recording contract with Capitol CMG in 2019.

After signing to the label, Wilson released her debut single, "My Jesus." The song resonated with listeners, touching hearts and souls. It topped the Hot Christian Songs chart.
  • Wilson worked with her "My Jesus" collaborators, Matthew West and Jeff Pardo, to write the song. She also enlisted "My Jesus" producer Jonathan Smith to co-produce the track with Pardo.
  • Video director TK McKamy filmed the visual at the Wilson Farm, a cherished property nestled in the scenic Kentucky countryside. The location holds significant historical value, as it has been in the Wilson family for over a century. The video involved Wilson's entire family, as they united to pay tribute to Jacob's life and legacy.

Throughout the clip, tender moments unfold, offering glimpses into the essence of Jacob's presence. In heartfelt gestures, the video captures poignant details such as brief glimpses of his final resting place and Wilson donning one of his old shirts while strumming his guitar. These personal touches give each frame meaning, evoking emotions of both heartbreak and healing.
