Songfacts®:

  • In the fall of 2024, David Guetta and American-Albanian pop singer Ava Max joined forces to breathe new life into Alphaville's 1984 synth-pop classic, "Forever Young." The result? A euphoric EDM reboot that honors the wistful charm of the original while injecting it with dancefloor energy. Guetta's throbbing beats and Max's powerhouse vocals give the track a modern sheen, transforming it from a contemplative anthem into a full-throttle club banger.
  • The "Forever Young" updated came about when Alphaville's version went viral on TikTok in September 2024. Sensing an opportunity (and no doubt hearing the ka-ching of cultural currency), Guetta decided to re-imagine the track for a generation more accustomed to LED screens than cassette tapes. He brought Ava Max on board to deliver soaring new verses that complement Alphaville's original vocals.
  • Guetta and Max unveiled their version of "Forever Young" on September 23, 2024, at the closing party of Guetta's F--K ME I'M FAMOUS! residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza. The live performance generated a torrent of social media buzz, with TikTok predictably at the forefront. By the time the "Live at Ushuaïa" version hit Guetta's YouTube channel, it was already a full-blown phenomenon.
  • The single, officially dropped on October 18, 2024, became the soundtrack for millions of TikTok creations. It climbed the charts across Europe and made its way onto the Billboard Hot 100 by January 2025, securing its status as yet another feather in Guetta's already-overcrowded cap.
  • This runaway success fits neatly into a familiar Guetta formula. Much like his 2022 smash "I'm Good (Blue)" - a reimagining of Eiffel 65's "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" - "Forever Young" takes a beloved classic and turbocharges it with contemporary EDM production. Both tracks share the common thread of nostalgia, brought into the present with the help of powerhouse female vocalists: Bebe Rexha in the case of "I'm Good (Blue)" and Ava Max for "Forever Young." And, of course, both benefited enormously from the unstoppable marketing machine that is TikTok.
  • "Forever Young" marks the second collaboration between David Guetta and Ava Max following their 2018 song "Let It Be Me."
