Songfacts®:

  • "She's Gone, Dance On" is a disco number with a four-on-the-floor beat. It incorporates a shimmering sample of Maria Travia's vocals from composer Ennio Morricone's 1978 song "Dance On" from the soundtrack of the 1978 film Così Come Sei.
  • Six years after Disclosure started working on the track, they debuted "She's Gone, Dance On" in Los Angeles in October 2023. It then found its way into the sets of tastemaker DJs like Todd Edwards, Joy Anonymous, salute, and Peggy Gou. When Dom Dolla played the song at Coachella 2024, social media erupted with clips of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce grooving to its rhythm.

Finally, after the sample was cleared, Disclosure officially released "She's Gone, Dance On" on May 29, 2024.

"I started this beat in 2017, put it in the vault didn't touch it," Disclosure told BBC Radio 1's Jack Saunders. "And then, got it back out last year, started messing around with it again, sped it up, gave it a bit of a new lease of life. And before we knew it, we sent it out to a few mates and a few DJs and it just took on a whole new life and real momentum."
  • "She's Gone, Dance On" is Disclosure's first release under their new label, Capitol Records, after a decade spent with Island.
