Songfacts®:

  • "Don't Worry" is one of the smoother and more melodic moments on Iceman, a laid-back R&B track that drifts along on a warm, understated groove. After an album packed with confrontations, boasts, and bruised emotions, the song feels like the musical equivalent of loosening your tie at the end of a very long evening.
  • Drake spends much of the track wrestling with a sense of disconnection. "I don't know what's up with me lately," he admits, sounding less like one of the world's most successful rappers and more like a man staring into a refrigerator at midnight hoping the answers are behind the orange juice. Throughout the song, he moves between scenes of nightlife excess and moments of introspection, using parties, alcohol, and luxury as temporary distractions while questioning whether any of them are actually helping.
  • The title adds an extra layer to the song, despite never appearing in the lyrics. On one level, "Don't Worry" reads as reassurance directed at friends, family, and fans, a promise that Drake has managing the pressures of fame, scrutiny, and expectation. On another, it sounds like a message aimed at rivals and critics, a calm insistence that everything remains under control.
  • One of the track's most talked-about moments arrives with a sly reference to the long-running feud between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B:

Candy-pink paint job, she pull up like a Barbie
Ref1, he so drunk, he just played Nicki then some Cardi, I'm sorry

The joke hinges on a DJ being too intoxicated to appreciate the social minefield he has wandered into. In some circles, playing Nicki and Cardi back-to-back is the musical equivalent of seating two exes beside each other at a wedding and hoping nobody notices.

The rivalry between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B has been one of hip-hop's defining feuds since their highly publicized confrontation at a New York Fashion Week event in 2018. Tensions resurfaced years later following the release of Cardi's Am I the Drama?, which sparked another round of social-media sniping. Drake, a longtime ally of Nicki through the Young Money camp, avoids taking sides here, using the feud as a source of observational humor rather than ammunition.
  • $4u, Batmanonthebeatz, Glitchrealm, O Lil Angel, Nasamadeit, Sledgren, and SPVDE produced the track. Several of these producers, especially O Lil Angel and b4u, contributed to multiple Iceman tracks.
  • The video finds Drake in familiar surroundings, recording in the studio with a drink nearby while shots of the Toronto skyline punctuate the performance. The imagery roots the song in the city that has served as both backdrop and character throughout much of his career. It was directed by Theo Skudra, who oversaw eight videos connected to Iceman.
  • Sitting at track 16, "Don't Worry" arrives in Iceman's final stretch. By this point in the album, Drake has moved through aggression ("Make Them Remember"), sorrow ("Make Them Cry "), and dark luxury ("B's On The Table ")."Don't Worry" offers a moment of melodic release before the album's final, weary comedown.
