Songfacts®:

  • This track namechecks and features English vocalist Jorja Smith. The teenage West Midland singer also appears on More Life's next song " Get It Together."
  • Jorja Smith first came to Drake's attention with her debut release "Blue Lights." In spring 2016, the Toronto MC sent the British youngster a direct message on Instagram asking if she would like to feature on "Get It Together," a track he'd come up with about a couple trying to sort themselves out. Her response to the Canadian star was surprisingly nonchalant. She explained to The London Sunday Times.

"He sent me the song, but because I write my own stuff, it was, like, 'This is really cool, but it's not anything to do with me at the moment.' And then, after about a year, I split up with my boyfriend, and I listened to the song again, and it was, like, 'Aah, this is what he's talking about - I get it'."

So Smith messaged Drake again, and asked if there was still space for her. He replied 'yes', and as well as "Get It Together," she also recorded vocals for this interlude.
  • The track samples the harmonica outro on Drake's 2011 Take Care song "Doing It Wrong," which was performed by Stevie Wonder. They're pitched differently and the "Jorja Interlude" instrumental is shorter, but the melodies are the same.
  • Jorja Smith is not the only British artist to be namechecked on a More Life song title - English grime artist Skepta also has bragging rights to his own interlude. The OVO boss has a long-standing friendship with Skepta, who made a few appearances in 2017 on Drake's Boy Meets World tour in Europe.
