Songfacts®:

  • Enrique Iglesias teams with Whitney Houston on this steamy duet that was included on Iglesias' first English-language album, Enrique. The Latin heartthrob and the R&B superstar were teamed by Clive Davis, head of Houston's label, Arista Records. The song expanded the audience for both singers, but was especially a boon to Iglesias. It was the last single from his album, which did its job and broke him in the English-language market. The first single, Bailamos, went to #1 in America.
  • The song was written by the hitmaker Diane Warren, who wrote several songs that Whitney Houston recorded, including "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" and "I Learned from the Best." It was produced by David Foster, Mark Taylor and Brian Rawling. Foster was at the helm for many of Houston's hits, including her signature song, "I Will Always Love You."
  • In 2000, the song was included on Whitney Houston's compilation Whitney: The Greatest Hits.
  • Iglesias and Houston both have a few lines in Spanish, staring with Houston's opening line, "Dame un beso para siempre," which means "Give me a kiss forever."
  • Houston and Iglesias recorded their vocals separately but did appear together in the music video, directed by Francis Lawrence. "The first time we met, I was just mesmerized," Iglesias told People. "When I first moved to America, she was one of the artists that I would just listen to all the time."
