Songfacts®:

  • "Leavemealone" is built around chopped-up vocals from American rapper Baby Keem's 2019 track "Bullies" and 2021 cut "South Africa." Over Fred Again's relentless beat and ominous bassline, Baby Keem's verses paint a picture of emotional peril as he grapples with the fear of heartbreak at the hands of poisonous women.
  • Fred Again co-produced "Leavemealone" with two of his frequent collaborators, American producer Skrillex and British producer Four Tet, alongside Alex Gibson, Benji Gibson, Loose and Sid Stone. It was Skrillex who first introduced Fred to Baby Keem's music, and he became a big fan of the Californian rapper.
  • Skrillex and Four Tet previously collaborated on another of Fred Again's tracks featuring sampled vocals of an American rapper. "Baby Again.." borrows some of Lil Baby's bars from his track with DaBaby, "Baby."
  • Fred Again first performed the song during his August 5, 2023 set at the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Back then, "Leavemealone" was still a work in progress, with the vocals needing some cleaning up. Despite its unfinished state, the tune started gaining serious traction as a crowd favorite during Fred's performances at various shows and festivals. It wasn't until November 21 that Fred managed to get in touch with Baby Keem and secure sample clearance for the track's official release. The producer/DJ finally released it on December 8, 2023.
