Songfacts®:

  • "Life Is Good" is billed as a single track, but sounds like two distinct songs sewn together. The first part finds Drake rapping about his come-up and the trappings of success. The second half features a braggadocios Future flexing his riches and lifestyle over a different beat.
  • An interlude breaks up the two halves. It is a clip from an interview in which Future tells French journalist/producer Mouloud Achour that "life is good."
  • Future and Drake are frequent collaborators, including their joint mixtape What a Time to Be Alive, which they dropped in 2015. The previous time the two rappers worked together before this track was on Drake's "Blue Tint."
  • Director X shot the video, which features both rappers getting their hands dirty working menial jobs. We see Future and Drake employed as electronics store employees, cake decorators, trash collectors, fast food workers and mechanics. The clip also features cameos from the likes of 21 Savage, Lil Yachty, and Mike WiLL Made-It.
  • When the song debuted at #2 on the Hot 100 dated January 25, 2020, it earned both artists career milestones. For Future it became his highest chart rank, overtaking the #5 that "Mask Off" reached.

"Life Is Good" became Drake's 207th entry on the Hot 100, tying him with the Glee Cast for the most appearances in the chart's history. The song also marked Drake's 100th top 40 Hot 100 hit – a feat no other artist has achieved.

After debuting at #2 on the Hot 100, "Life Is Good" spent eight weeks in the runner-up spot behind Roddy Ricch's "The Box." It is the first ever song to spend its first eight weeks at that position.
  • The remix adds DaBaby and Lil Baby to the song. The new version reworks the distribution; Future replaces Drake's verse with some new bars, leaving Drizzy with just four lines. DaBaby and Lil Baby come in for their verses after the beat switches. Both rappers express their satisfaction with how well life is treating them.
  • The beat for Drake's part comes courtesy of:

Swiss producer OZ, who has collaborated extensively with Travis Scott ("Sicko Mode", "Highest In The Room").

German producer Ambezza who is part of OZ's team.

A beatmaker named D. Hill came up with the production for Future's part of the song. Hill also supplied the instrumentation for Drake and Future's track "Desires."
