This throwaway garage rocker is a track from ¡Dos!, the second in a trilogy of albums by Green Day. Bassist Mike Drint described the LP to Guitar Center as "more garage rock - a little dirtier, like you're in the middle of the party" feel to it."
Drint told MTV News regarding ¡Dos!: "It's more of a fun atmosphere with these next records, going into more of a party thing, almost kind of a 'hell party.' We have one song called 'Makeout Party,' which the events actually occurred."
"The Way" by Fastball was inspired by the story of an elderly couple from Texas who drove to a nearby family reunion and kept going. Fastball's bass player imagined them taking off and having fun like they were young. The story didn't end well: the couple was later found dead after they crashed in a canyon.
