Songfacts®:

  • On this self lacerating track Peñate sings about his experiences with his 2007 debut album Matinée. The singer-songwriter explained to The Daily Telegraph June 24, 2009, the negative lyrical content: "With the last record I got so low. I saw myself as an artist I wouldn't find exciting. That was something I found really hard to deal with. I didn't want to be generic or mainstream, but I came through with a surge of [similar] artists that I was lumped in with. I wasn't disappointed with the first record, I just feel it's not who I am."
  • Peñate's fellow Londoner, Adele, sings background vocals on this track.
