Songfacts®:

  • On "Just Us," James Arthur confronts his flaws and the pain he caused his partner, dancer Jessica Grist. Rather than continually chasing futile things, it's time to put their relationship first. No more running away, Arthur is ready to confront his issues head-on. From now on it's just us.

"'Just Us' is a song in which I confess to running away from what really matters and getting lost in the pursuit of validation from external things," said Arthur. "It's about chasing a hedonistic, hollow life. Realizing the true meaning of life which is of course about true love, loving ourselves, our families and our communities and being there for them."
  • Arthur wrote "Just Us" with:

London-based singer-songwriter Andrew Jackson, who also collaborated with Arthur on his "Train Wreck" single. Jackson's other credits include Sean Paul's "No Lie" and Shawn Mendes' "Summer of Love."

Los Angeles-based songwriter Steve Solomon, who co-wrote Arthur's RIAA Diamond-Certified single "Say You Won't Let Go." Solomon has also worked with Backstreet Boys ("No Place") and Dean Lewis ("Stay Awake").
  • Arthur released "Just Us" as the third single from his fifth album, Bitter Sweet Love, on October 6, 2023. The album comprises 16 songs produced by Steve Solomon, who finished the record at Miloco Studios in London.
  • Bitter Sweet Love debuted at #1 on the UK Albums chart. It was Arthur's second album to top the survey, following Back From The Edge in 2016.
