Songfacts®:

  • This Latin-inspired, innuendo-filled song finds Jason DeRulo singing about taking his love interest "dancing." However, it soon becomes clear he's not referring to the performing art form but a much more intimate bedroom activity.

Derulo said: "In these times, we all need a song that's going to uplift us. Hopefully 'Take You Dancing' can be a light in these trying days."

The song was released as a single on July 23, 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic.
  • Jason Derulo wrote the song with:

Finnish singer-songwriter Teemu Brunila, who also co-penned JP Cooper's UK hit "September Song" and R&B artist Trey Songz' Chapter V track "Never Again." When Chapter V topped the Billboard 200, Brunila became the first Finn to have co-written a song for US #1 album.

American songwriter and producer Emanuel "Eman" Kiriakou, who has co-written and produced several US Top 10 singles, including Nick Lachey's "What's Left Of Me," David Archuleta's "Crush," and Hot Chelle Rae's "Tonight Tonight."

New York singer-songwriter Sarah Solovay, who also provided additional vocals on the track. Solvay has also collaborated with Aloe Blacc, Galantis, Steve Aoki, and Icona Pop.

Frequent Jason DeRulo collaborator Shawn Charles. He also co-wrote "Mamacita," "Best Friend" and "Diamonds."

Teemu Brunila and Emanuel Kiriakou also produced the track and played keyboards, bass and guitar.
