Songfacts®:

  • K-Trap (birth name Devonte Perkins) is a rapper and songwriter from South London. He rose to prominence in the UK drill scene in the late 2010s with his mixtapes and notable features. They included jumping on Dig Dat's remix for "Air Force" and Krept & Konan's hit "I Spy."

This dark and gritty street anthem is his first solo song to reach the UK Top 20.
  • The drill heater finds K-Trap rapping about the hustler lifestyle. He never steps onto the streets without his gun. In fact, the only time the rapper is unarmored is when he's coming out of the shower.

Only time I step out naked is when I'm fresh out the en-suite

Heat is another word for a gun, so as K-Trap has his weapon on him all the time, he's warm.

Out here on the block and you know we're warm
You know we're warm, you know we got it
    Feds wanna search for hammers
I know that they hope they're warm
  • That's British presenter and comedian Yung Filly speaking on the intro. It's from a voice note he sent K-Trap when he dropped "Warm."
  • M1OnTheBeat created the instrumentation that features trademark drill-distorted bass. The London producer has supplied beats for several other drill anthems, including Headie One's Drake collaboration "Only You Freestyle" and Digga D's cut "Woi."
  • K-Trap released "Warm" on May 13, 2021. It opened his 2021 mixtape Trapo, which the rapper dropped later in the year. The streets gradually embraced the drill anthem, and by the fall of 2022 it was trending and had entered the UK singles chart.
  • K-Trap delivered a remix featuring Skepta on November 3, 2022. The rap and grime star's verse features rhymes about his path from Meridian Walk to selling one of his paintings at the prestigious Sotheby's. K-Trap also spits a fresh verse that emphasizes his street credentials.
  • Donning his signature black balaclava, K-Trap takes it back to the streets in the remix's video, which features walk-on cameos from a procession of UK rappers, including Chip, Jme, Blade Brown and Krept & Konan. Young Filly also turned up for the shoot.
