Songfacts®:

  • Kano recorded this with Popcaan. The Jamaican dancehall star has also collaborated with Drake ("Know Yourself, "Controlla"), and Gorillaz ("Saturnz Barz'), and had a UK Top 10 hit with Melissa Steel in "Kisses For Breakfast."
  • Kano told Q magazine about the collaboration. "I'd met him a few times here when he was doing Gorillaz and we always talked about working. But it was mad the way It happened. My mum was in Jamaica for her 60th birthday and I went out there and had two extra days after she left. He took us to some street parties, crazy places, and then late one evening said, 'We should go to the studio!' So yeah why not?! It was nice to catch that vibe with him over there. The dancehall thing is so a part of me."
  • This is a track from Kano's Hoodies All Summer album. The record finds him conflicted; even the title is a reference to feelings of doubt and alienation. "That came from a line in 'Teardrops,' he told Q magazine. 'When it rains it pours, hoodies all summer because teardrops from the sky only seem to fall on you and I.' It's about an attitude, a mentality, a resonance. We know we always get sh-ted on, but we're prepared."
