Songfacts®:

  • "Latina Foreva" is Karol G's tribute to Latina women worldwide. The Colombian superstar shouts out the spirit of Latina women, celebrating their beauty, strength, and cultural pride.

"The song is about all the aspects of being Latina," said Karol G. "Our curves, the way we're the life of the party, and how everyone in the world wants to be with a Latina. I feel like the energy we carry has just been contagious."
  • The song ends with a clip from Euphoria actress Alexa Demie's viral video where she asks, "Why does everybody ask me if I'm Latina? Isn't it obvious?"
  • Karol G wrote "Latina Foreva" with Daniela "La Guru" Aponte, a fellow Colombian whose breakout moment came via a smoky number titled "Perra Melancólica." Karol discovered La Guru's work, was instantly smitten, and gave her a national stage appearance - effectively granting her a career-launching blessing in front of a live studio audience.
  • The production comes courtesy of Venezuelan beatmaker Mazzarri, known for work with J Balvin and Kali Uchis; and Misha, a Finnish producer with Ukrainian roots. Neither producer had worked with Karol G before.
  • "Latina Foreva" is a full-throttle homage to early 2000s reggaeton, and it samples three iconic hits from that golden era.

The song opens with the same melody as Don Omar's 2004 classic "Dile." Karol G then riffs in the chorus on Nina Sky's iconic vocal from N.O.R.E's huge reggaeton hit "Oye Mi Canto." Finally, Karol G nods to Wisin's "Saoco," during her second verse.
  • As if to underscore the emotional temperature of the song (hot), the music video is filmed somewhere very cold: the snowy Mammoth Lakes in California. The director, Pedro Artola ("Provenza," "TQG," "Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido"), stages a visual paradox: a group of fiery Latina women exuding confidence and resilience amid the icy terrain. The clip also includes a performance by Spanish flamenco guitarist José del Tomate.
