Songfacts®:

  • Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach married his longtime love Corinne Paris (also known as Philia Porphyra) on August 23, 2024, in Whitethorn, California.

Corinne has been a cornerstone of Leach's life, supporting him through his highs and lows. She served as the inspiration for "Forever Aligned," a song about deep, cosmic, universe-spanning, boundless love.

"It's about connection and that spiritual energy that bonds us as humans," Leach said. "It is equally about human love inspired by my relationship with my wife as well as my connection to what I feel is God."
  • Raised by a minister, Leach has a complicated relationship with faith, one that he still explores in his lyrics. (check out "Temple From Within"). "God is love," Leach said in an interview with The Break Down With Nath & Johnny about the lyrical inspiration for "Forever Aligned," before adding that love itself is "far beyond human comprehension."
  • "Forever Aligned" also reflects something deeply personal: the period during the pandemic when Leach and his wife were, as he put it, "just the two of us, nobody else, and really learning what love and sacrifice is."
  • Longtime Killswitch Engage guitarist and resident producer Adam Dutkiewicz helmed the track. Dutkiewicz knows how to support Leach, who is often plagued by self-doubt.

"Adam's a great producer," Leach told Kerrang!. "He knows I'm a sensitive little flower. He knows how to handle me because he's seen me in the studio, having total meltdowns."
