Songfacts®:

  • Guitarist Mark Morton recalled to Kerrang! February 21, 2009: "I worked on that song for a long, long time, probably about two years. It was a pretty long incubation period for a song. And the lyrics are kind of a love song to my life, although no-one would ever expect that from a song titled 'Walk With Me In Hell.'"
  • Mark Morton wrote the lyrics shortly after falling in love with a girl named Karrie Lynn who would eventually become his wife. The guitarist recalled in an essay written for Vice how he "yearned to let her know how deeply I felt for her, painstakingly scribbling lyrics asking my love to 'take hold of my hand' and promising her she was 'never alone.'"
