Songfacts®:

  • This song features a chorus from the late XXXtentacion in which the rapper appears to be addressing his complicated relationship with his then girlfriend, Geneva Ayala. She cheated on him, and in 20016 XXXtentacion was arrested on charges of abusing Ayala when she was pregnant. Still, X remained in love with her.

    Don't cry, don't go
    Won't lie, I f---in' love you

XXXTentacion used similar lyrics on his March 2018 track, "Pain=BESTFRIEND," featuring Travis Barker, but in that instance he sung them in a more frantic tone.

    Don't cry, don't cry, it won't end
Pain will always be my friend
  • Lil Wayne's two verses find him musing on death and mortality. He ends the track by paying tribute to XXXTentacion, telling him:

And XXXtentacion on my mother---in' afterlife
    Rest in paradise

XXXTentacion was shot and killed outside a motorcycle shop in Deerfield Beach in Florida in June 2018.
  • The song was produced by Z3N and Ben Billions. X's hook came from some sessions in February 2018 with Florida producer Z3n. Z told TMZ that he and X never finished any of their songs, but the producer kept what they did. He eventually passed it along to another producer, who gave it to Lil Wayne and a Republic Records executive. Ben Billions came in later to do additional production work.
