  • Blige wrote this song with the R&B/hip-hop hitmakers Theron "Neff-U" Feemster and Terius "The-Dream" Nash. Feemster, who also co-wrote the album's single "Work That," produced tracks for Eminem, Ne-Yo, Michael Jackson, and Justin Bieber. Nash, who released his debut solo album, Love/Hate, in 2007 (the same year as Growing Pains), co-wrote Rihanna's "Umbrella" and Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," among other hits.
  • Peaking at #6 on the UK Albums chart, Growing Pains was Blige's best showing on the tally since 2001, when No More Drama went to #4. In the US, it was her third consecutive album (fourth overall)to hit #1.
