Songfacts®:

  • "Dior" is a deep house track released on June 6, 2025, by MK - real name Marc Kinchen. The song features the soulful vocals of British singer Chrystal, who is best known for her "The Days" single.
  • Co-written by MK and Chrystal, "Dior" is about a love set against a backdrop of high-end fashion brands like Bottega Veneta and Christian Dior. Rather than emotional codependency, the relationship is centered on shared prosperity, two people in love with each other and also with the finer things in life.
  • Upon its release, "Dior" quickly gained traction as a summer anthem. It debuted on the UK Singles chart at #18, becoming MK's fifth UK Top 20 entry and Chrystal's second.
  • Founded in Paris in 1945, Christian Dior appears frequently in modern music, especially in hip-hop, pop, and R&B, where luxury brands are often used as symbols of status, aspiration, and style. Hip-hop, in particular, has adopted Dior as a kind of sonic status symbol. Pop Smoke's "Dior" is a prime example, becoming a cultural touchstone and even an anthem during Black Lives Matter protests.

Kanye West, never one to miss a metaphor or a fashion reference, gave us "Christian Dior Denim Flow," where he weaves the brand into narratives about identity, romance, and the glamor of celebrity life.
  • MK told Official Charts he first discovered Chrystal thanks to his teenage daughter, who played him her song "The Days." Impressed by her voice and energy, he tracked her down for a potential collaboration. Initially, Chrystal didn't even want her name on the track; she preferred to stay behind the scenes. But once she heard the final version, she changed her mind: "OK, I want my name on it."

The track had been sitting on MK's hard drive for months, but once Chrystal came on board, everything clicked into place and it quickly became a single.
  • "Dior" topped the UK Singles Chart, becoming both MK's and Chrystal's first UK #1 with original material. The American producer did previously reach the summit with his 2013 remix of Storm Queen's "Look Right Through."
