Songfacts®:

  • This song was written by the band Simple Plan. When they decided not to use it for their record, they gave it to Bob Rock who gave it to Motley Crue who did their own changes.
  • Motley Cure's lead singer Vince Neil has said that to him, this song is a message from band member to band member, and not a love song as many people see it.
  • In the video for this song, each band member seems to be doing something related to the hardest experiences in their lives. Vince Neil is driving around in a Ford Pantera, the same kind of car that he had a drunken accident in the '80s. He is speeding very fast, and the girl starts to panic. Mick Mars is seen laying in a hospital bed with a nurse tending to him. He has a severe back condition and has had it for years, resulting in a hip replacement. Tommy Lee is seen screaming in agony inside of a jail cell. This is a reference to the time he spent in jail for abusing Pamela Anderson. Nikki Sixx is seen walking toward a cliff surrounded by flaming spoons, sprouting wings, losing the wings, and then falling off the cliff. This is a reference to Nikki's heroin addiction. It once got so bad, the heroin took his life for two minutes, but he was eventually brought back to life. This is symbolized by him walking off the cliff and floating back up, like being on the edge of death from his addiction. >>>
