Mutemath lead vocalist Paul Meany told Billboard magazine about the inspiration for this track. "The idea for this song came to me while I was moving out of my house in New Orleans a few years back," he recalled. "I often wonder if this song was subconsciously about that. Leaving a place I didn't want to, but had to. Either way, once we got this song on its feet, we finally had uncovered the foundation of how we wanted the whole album to sound."
Bob Dylan's most popular song is "Like A Rolling Stone," which tells the story of a wealthy woman whose money and friends fall away. Dylan offers these mockingly encouraging words: "When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose."
