Songfacts®:

  • Night Ranger drummer Kelly Keagy was always concerned about his younger sister Kristy. He wrote their 1983 hit "Sister Christian" about her, asking her to temper her wild ways because she had so much to look forward to. But that's not the only song he wrote about her. "Faces," from their next album, 7 Wishes, is another.

In a Songfacts interview with Keagy, he told the story: "She was having nightmares, and my mom said, 'Kristy is having terrible nightmares. She's not sleeping.' And my mom – of all people – wrote down a couple of lines. 'Faces, pictures on the wall' was the first line of the song. And I was like, 'Wow, mom, that's really powerful.' And I wrote the song."
  • Kelly Keagy sang lead on this track, as he did on "Sister Christian." He wrote it along with bass player Jack Blades (who did most Night Ranger lead vocals) and keyboard player Alan Fitzgerald.
