  • This is the title track of Pink's sixth studio album. She told MTV News why she named the record after this cut. "'The Truth About Love' is one of my favorite songs on the record, but I realized it also sums up my whole adventure in this lifetime," she said. "I used to be really motivated to do really dangerous and stupid things for love, and I was really fearful of love. When I was a little girl, 'love' meant fighting and bickering and losing your parents. But now love is also having a child and unconditional and beautiful and, with my husband, sexual. Musically, it's not a Sade record, where you know what you're going to get when you put it on. It's a Pink record; you have no idea what you're going to get. I don't know what I'm doing when I go in to record an album, so I think that's the theme: questions and experiences and running from — and running to — love."
  • Pink told Australia's Today Show regarding The Truth About Love. "The motivation for this album is love and all of the different shades of it," she said, "dark, light, happy, sad, what love can motivate you to do, just all of it. Just exploring how much it can hurt and how much it can feel good. It's not cheesy."
  • Pink revealed to 97.1 AMP's Carson Daly that she recorded over 40 songs for The Truth About Love, but only included 13 on the final tracklisting. "I like to put 13 songs on my record. It's my lucky number. I had my first kiss on Friday the 13th in a graveyard," she said.
  • The Truth About Love was Pink's first #1 album in the US. It debuted with 280,000 sold, the best debut sales week for the singer, overtaking her previous highest start of 220,000 when Missundaztood launched in 2001.
  • You could say that Pink is big Down Under. Her The Truth About Love set was the best-selling album of 2012 in Australia whilst her Greatest Hits... So Far came out on top of the ARIA Top 100 Albums Chart in 2010.
  • Looking back on the album in 2019, Pink told Variety: "After having a baby and becoming a mom, I was super-raw at that point in my life. It was the first time that I would work in the studio during the day. I was about to breast feed and I would put her down for a nap and then come back. It was very kind of daytime-y sober. I felt really present making that record, because normally we'd open a bottle of wine and s--t-talk and record at one in the morning. It just wasn't that anymore."
