Songfacts®:

  • Drummer Jamie Morrison explained to Sugarscape why the band made this song the album's title track: "The lyrics summed up the way we're living right now. Sometimes we do things we regret and others we're really proud over, so that's what Wild Young Hearts is all about. Life is about ups and downs - sometimes your sad, then others you're wild and impulsive."
  • Shingai Shoniwa told Digital Spy about the album: "We always head into the studio to go on a journey that's exciting to us and will reach people. We're not part of a hit factory and both our records have been made very organically. Our first album was made in just weeks in America and it took us around the world - we were really proud of that. Second time around we had three months over the summer, so it was nice to have all that time to layer it up. It's got loads of backing singers, harmoniums, strings and my little brother's even on there!"
