Johnny's Gonna Die

Album: Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash (1981)

Songfacts®:

  • This song is about former New York Doll and leader of the Heartbreakers, Johnny Thunders. The song details his drug use that ultimately led to his death in 1991. Thunders is cited as one of the godfathers of Punk, and the character of Rockhead in Sid And Nancy was based on him. Strangely enough, original Replacements guitarist Bob Stinson also died in 1995 after a lengthy history of drug abuse. >>
