Songfacts®:

  • This early White Lion rocker tells the story of a battle, not from the typical perspective of the empire combatants, but from the side of the soldiers doing the fighting. Most will die on the pitch, leaving the glory to the king. "All The Fallen Men" asks us to remember them. The song can apply to modern times, as soldiers to the bidding of leaders who don't value their lives.
  • The song is part of White Lion's debut album, Fight To Survive. They were signed to Elektra Records, which passed on it and dropped the band. They ended up issuing it in on an independent label called Grand Slamm in America, and in Japan on Victor Records. Eventually, they got a deal with Atlantic Records, which released their next album, Pride, in 1987. That one roared, with two big hits: "Wait" and "When The Children Cry."
  • The song was written by vocalist Mike Tramp and guitarist Vito Bratta, the core members of the group. They were cycling through rhythm sections at the time, and the bass player, Felix Robinson, and drummer, Nicky Capozzi, both moved on before Pride was released and those positions were filled by James LoMenzo and Greg D'Angelo.

Tramp's compassionate lyric and Bratta's clever guitar solo on the track were early indications of what was to come for White Lion.
