  • All your dreams are made
When you're chained to the mirror and the razor blade
Today's the day that all the world will see
    Another sunny afternoon
Walking to the sound of my favorite tune
Tomorrow never knows what it doesn't know too soon

Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to wake up wake up
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to rest your mind

You know you should so I guess you might as well
    What's the story morning glory?

  • Ken from Liverpool(All your Dreams are made)-: I was singing this line . Thinking I got myself a Record Deal . And that all the World will be able to see . That I had a deal , . I never taken Cocaine I had to research the affects of Taking Cocaine . I can see why people . Thought my Lyrics were about taking Cocaine . Every man is chained to a Mirror and a Razor Blade . When he Shaves , unless He choosers to grow a Beard . Cocaine addiction can be stopped by the User Through Re-hab . Cocaine can be taken on any flat surface and still is taken as of Today by Users . Man will always be chained to a Razor Blade until he Dies . Tomorrow never knows , what it does`nt Know too soon . Was a line expressing my feeling , that the Record deal for me could come no sooner ,than today ` What`s the story `The Story was all about my Cousin who had a Car and offered to take me to Jarvis studio .To Record some tracks . He was suppose to pick me up at 8.30 am < He was Late he Slept in (He`s the Guy who needed a little time to wake up ) While I was waiting for him to arrive . I was watching Morning Breakfast television . The Paper headline was Morning Glory . With a picture of prince Charles . I never took much notice to the News Papers . I never got to know what the story of prince Charles was about . Hence Whats The Story Morning Glory became the apparent chorus Line .The whole passage of the Song . Was influenced by everything that happened that day . Check out the Paper Headline
  • Ken from LiverpoolFull of sh*t Noel I'm the Guy you asked "what Wonderwall was about" In Liverpool City Centre .Morning Glory had nothing to do with cocaine. Noel you being a user of cocaine tried to immunize My Lyrics.
Keep posted Song facts No one can interpret something you have wrote. Noel Gallagher on many occasions has said he can't explain what his Lyrics are about . Cos he never Wrote the lyrics . I wrote Definitely May be. I understand every word I have wrote. My song meanings involve every Lyric . Take a look at this interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7MNpvShZk8) I speak nothing but the Truth
  • Panini from Killeen, TxNoel would never wake up with an erection, unless he had a sexy dream. And I think Annabeth is right. Chris were you trying to be random?
  • Susy from Melbourne, AustraliaIn the 1963 film bye bye birdie, they greet each other saying 'whats the story, morning glory?' during one of the songs. i havnt seen it any where before that.
  • Richard from Essex, United Kingdomabout drugs drugs and more drugs
  • Simon from London, EnglandIts about living your life round coke and the taking of coke constantly.Which is pretty much what Oasis did for a couple of years. Anyone who has taken large amounts, knows that for a man, although you want to have sex all the time - the sad fact is that it makes it very difficult to gain erection for any length of time. Hence "Whats the story, Morning Glory". What the f--k is going on here ? Or it is simply referring to the first line of the day, taken over breakfast - hence Morning Glory!!
  • Tomash from Warsaw, PolandOk. So
    "All your dreams are made
When you're chained to the mirror with the razor blade" - Blad and mirror is used to form form the of blow. And when you snort you don't really have future
"Today's the day that all the world will see" - some time after it shows that youre on blow, and youre wandering when people will see it
    "Another sunny afternoon,
Walking to the sound of my favorite tune" - Another snort and a favorit track, Every day is the same
"Tomorrow never knows what it doesn't know too soon" - As sad earlier world is turning around the drug
"Need a little time to wake up, Need a little time to rest your mind" - When you snorting blow the day after you fill realy f--ked up. And you need another snort to wake you up.
"What's the story, Morning Glory" - As sad beefor morning glory is the expresion for morning erection. Simply when you take cocaine or meth for long it damages youre penis and simply don't have the morning erection.
  • Dave from Liverpool, EnglandThis song is obviously about addiction to crack cocaine and the users wishes to break free.

"all your dreams are made, when you're chained to the mirror and the razor blade, todays the day that all the world will see" sees the user dreaming of getting his life back on track.

"need a little time to wake up, need a little time to rest your mind , you know you should so i guess you might as well"

characterises his addiction and his dependency on the drug to get through the day.

  • Dave from Cardiff, WalesLevi - 'Country House' by Blur was originally recorded before the Morning Glory album was finished, therefore that line could not have been a snipe at Oasis. 'Contry House' is alleged to be a snipe at Scouse musician Julian Cope, who was well known for using LSA and LSD
  • Dave from Cardiff, WalesJamiroquai recorded a song called "Morning Glory" in the mid-90s as well, seems like the plant was a symbol of 1990s culture...
  • Michael from Cassville, MoMorning Glory (the flower) is very much like the "lotus" flower (with the opening and closing and they are both white and they both are used as a drug to stimulate) which isnt around except for in myth, i think mirror and razor fills in the rest, special people dont change, and all lives are living strange in the eyes of someone else. Any thoughts with that light shined?
  • Mark from Perth, Australia'tommorow never knows' is a beatles song from revolver. its a really trippy song with drug references and influences.
  • Levi from Sydney, AustraliaBlur vs. Oasis
The song received a great deal of attention when Blur's label Food Records moved the original release date to be on the same day as Oasis' "Roll With It". The British media had already reported an intense rivalry between the two bands and this clash of releases was seen as a battle for the number one spot. "Country House" won Blur the battle ("Roll With It" coming in at No. 2) but they lost the war as The Great Escape was beaten by Oasis' album (What's the Story) Morning Glory on sales. Incidentally, "Country House" features the lines "He's got morning glory/And life's a different story" which may well have been a jab at Oasis.
  • Levi from Sydney, AustraliaCountry house was released before moring glory
  • Cam from Mitchell, CanadaNeed a little time to wake up,
Need a little time to rest your mind,
You know you should so I guess you might as well...

Some poor sap's a little tired and considers waking up completely (line of coke), but maybe he'd be better to slow down for a while (rest his mind). The final decision "guess you might as well" is ambiguous.

The wrestling back and forth over the next line does seem to fit the "chained to the mirror" part as well as the idea of existing in the moment but also vaguely aware of the future ("Tomorrow never knows what it doesn't know too soon..."). If Noel is writing about "addiction" he's done a damn good job.
  • Courtney from Ipswich, Australiai love this song and can say that just from reading what everyone thinks, ive actually thought about what the song can be about and what it means. god its got so many meanings. if u think outside the box. the drug story fits, the self image pity thing or whatever fits, everything does. i wish i could meet oasis to atcually find out the real truth though. i want to know. alot. i just wana know really. so i can know if its about drugs. it is.
  • Bones from New Plymouth, New ZealandThe Friend that Rick is talking about, was Noel's Ex Meg Mathews
  • Milezee from Perth, AustraliaUm, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? Notice the question mark? Brackets refer to the subject at hand, thus: So whats the story? Any morning glory? Doesn't take a detective. Not to mention it was quite documented the Gallagher brothers were chock-full of charly anyway (among other tings!)
  • Brandon from Panama City, Otheractually david with a name like morning glory it doesnt really sound like nose candy but rather the still legal morning glory flowers whose seeds contain lsa
  • David from Stockport, Cheshire, Englandpmsl, people people, you think this song is about a muffin? we don't even eat muffins that much in england, so i can assure you, its not about a muffin, lol, its about nose candy
  • Kieran from D.c., Vamaybe a morning glory muffin?
  • Jake from Toronto, CanadaI heard this was about a muffin.
  • Rick from Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, EnglandThe title of the album, "(What's the Story)Morning Glory?", came from a phone conversation Noel had with a friend.
The friend phoned him up and said "What's the story morning glory?", Noel liked it and decided it would be the title of the album.
    Rick, Tewkesbury, England
  • Travis from Watertown, Sdmorning glory seeds will only work if you have a strong stomache. otherwise you'll just end up puking it all up after you eat them.
  • Chris from Leeds, EnglandMorning glory is slang here in England for when you wake up in the morning with an erection!!!

    Chris, Leeds, England
  • Annabeth from Kutztown, PaAlso, as a kind of metaphor, Morning Glory fits. Think about it: It blossoms in morning and fades at night. Kinda like a person on a high, and thier life in general, because if you keep on using you'll end up dying young.
  • Kristen from Trenton-ish, Nj This is such a great song, because it could be thought of in so many ways. At first I thought it was about self image and pity in genneral (mirror, razor blades, needing a little time to wake up and take a look at yourself and see it's all okay - morning glory just being a really lovley word that fit nicley and poeticly) I picked up on the drug refrence on my third listen through, but this is just such a prettty, poetic song.
  • Whangus from Ottawa, Canadamorning glory seeds are lsa, brother of lsd same effects but weaker
