Songfacts®:

  • Alex Warren's sophomore album, Wildchild (2026), is about the experiences we face in different seasons of life and how to learn from them. "It's a tutorial on how to feel," he told the Off The Record podcast. The heartbreaking ballad "I Miss You More" was inspired by the fresh wave of grief he experienced after reading a letter from his late father, who died of kidney cancer when the singer was 9 years old.

"My dad knew he was dying and he was writing me a letter, and he wrote me and all my siblings letters saying goodbye," Warren explained to Hits Radio. "I went to his grave and I read the letter and we wrote this song and it was just this beautiful, emotional... really hard record to write."
  • The song is a tearjerker for listeners but also for Warren, who was so moved while recording it that he started crying in the second half. He kept it in to add to the emotional resonance.
