Songfacts®:

  • This song pays homage to Arcade Fire multi instrumentalist and co-vocalist Régine Chassagne's Haitian roots, her parents having emigrated from Haiti to Canada before she was born.
  • In January 2010 a 7.0 earthquake near Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince caused widespread chaos and devastation, with thousands feared dead. Chassagne and her bandmate and husband Win Butler posted a message on the band's official website asking for fans to donate to the earthquake appeal, through the non-profit corporation Partners in Health.
