Songfacts®:

  • This song is about a women being raped. It goes into unusual detail and is told from the perspective of the rapist, who has objectified the victim.

Many Avenged Sevenfold songs tell stories of people doing horrible things. Their lead singer, M. Shadows, has long been intrigued by how humans are capable evil deeds, and he presents that in his lyrics.
  • The female screams in this song come from Valary DiBenedetto, who was M. Shadows' girlfriend and the band's manager at the time. She and Shadows got married in 2009.
  • The song is part of the first Avenged Sevenfold album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, released in 2001. The album didn't get much attention until the band came to the fore with their 2005 track "Bat Country." Many of their newly acquired fans then dug into their back catalog and bought the album.

  • Alx Rosekoski from In A Better PlaceI feel like the comments are more abt turn the other way and and other songs in the album but turn the other way is definitely my favorite of this album. His screaming is so unique and i love it!
  • Jerry from Charleston, WvIt is Valary, M. Shadow’s then girlfriend, now wife, who sings in the song. She also appears in Scream and A Little Piece of Heaven. I think the other songs with female vocals are done by other musicians. I do know for certain that at least Easier and Dear God are other musicians. As for Desecrate Through Reverence, that is The Rev’s high pitched vocals.
  • Parker from Carbon Hill, AlI agree, Turn the other is awesome!!
an epic of time wasted is awesome too
  • Janae from Riverside, CaVal in person is a real bitch, but her scream is pretty good! Best song on the STST album is Turn The Other Way!!
  • James from Houston, Txyeah it's on the All-Excess DVD, it shows Shadows' girlfriend Valary screaming, which was so awesome and unexpected.
  • William from Bergen, NorwayIt's not Shadows, it's his girlfriend. It saus so even in the album map. And on Desecrate Through Reverence it's The Rev who sing those high screams.
  • Jake from Miamisburg, OhIt is Shadows, he does it in Desecrate Through Reverance as well...16 days till wut
  • Cameron from Kilmarnock, ScotlandIt's Valary DiBenedetto, Matt's girlfriend... Dunno if that's spelt right but that's who it is lol
  • Casey from Whitestown, Incan anyone tell me who is the high-pitched screaming part (Punching slowly, my mind can't change the speed...No matter what i do or how hard i try) thx! ~16 more days~
