Early Morning

Album: Early Morning Onwards (1968)
  • "Early Morning" was the band's first single. Backed by "Mr Sunshine", it was released on the Parlophone label on April 26, 1968, and, according to the December 1996 issue of the fanzine Nova Lepidoptera, it is "the only one of their songs which was a genuine writing collaboration between all four members of the band".
Described by keyboard player Stuart Wolstenholme as an attempt to capture the same mood as "A Whiter Shade Of Pale", the song set the tone for much of their later output. >>
