Songfacts®:

  • This instrumental gets its name from a soundbite in the 2008 documentary Gunnin' for That #1 Spot, directed by Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, better known as MCA. In the film, a coach says describes a player's style as "dramastically different."
  • "Dramastically Different" is part of The Mix-Up, a Beastie Boys album made up entirely of instrumentals, showing that they had come a long way since their days as a rap group that could barely play their own instruments. At this stage of their lives, the studio experience took priority over the sales figures - they knew an instrumental album wouldn't sell very well (it didn't), but wanted that quality time jamming together in the studio without having to write lyrics.
