Songfacts®:

  • The emotionally charged "Shameless" finds Camila Cabello pining for a love.

So many mornings I woke up confused
In my dreams, I do anything I want to you

However, the object of Cabello's intense desire is already someone else's lover.

My kisses are history, they go back a long time, uh
And I'm tired of loving somebody that's not mine, no

Cabello is "shameless" about letting go of control and giving in to her passions.

My emotions are naked, they're taking me out of my mind
    Right now, I'm shameless
  • Camila Cabello stated that the song is based on true events in her life when she was denying her feelings for a person for a long time. "'Shameless' is the way that I wanna feel," she explained. "When I think about choosing songs to put out, I'm like, 'Who do I wanna be? How do I wanna feel?' And 'Shameless' is very uninhibited, just fearless, unabashedly just being in love with someone."
  • Both this song and "Liar" were written about the same situation. Cabello penned "Liar" first, and had half an hour left, which is when she came up with the chorus melody for "Shameless."
  • The song was produced by Andrew Watt (who previously contributed towards Cabello's "Havana") and musical collective The Monsters & Strangerz (collaborators with Zedd and Zara Larsson).
  • The sexy and intense video was directed by Henry Scholfield (Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa). It features fiery imagery conveying the singer's desire, including scenes in a church confessional and Cabello dancing with eight lookalikes.

  • Latrisha from Zion, Illinois When your not innocent anymore, you instantly think dirty based on what you hear. like for instance, in a verse, she says, "Show me you're shameless
Write it on my neck, why don't ya?" soooooooo, i was sadly at the current age i am right now(13), i was thinking dirty and thought the song was about her wanting him in a romance way, but also a sexual way.
