Songfacts®:

  • Elbow frontman Guy Garvey split from his then-girlfriend of ten years, journalist and novelist Emma Jane Unsworth, during the recording of the band's 2014 album, Take Off and Landing of Everything. He told The Independent that the title track of the Lost Worker Bee EP is about being "out there, lost and looking for love" after their breakup.

"You get better at handling it," Garvey added, regarding previous relationships. "Fall and fall again. I don't regret anything that's happened, any decisions I've made. But 'Lost Worker Bee' is also celebrating... it's pregnant with possibility. And that's how you must always feel."
  • The video is based on a script by Moose Allain and stars Sanjeev Kohli, who is most famous for his role as Navid in the Scottish sitcom Still Game.
