This song finds Eminem opening up about his relationship Kim Mathers and the struggles he's faced since their second marriage ended in early April 2006.
The hook and bridge features vocals by Kobe. The singer previously collaborated with Eminem on "Talkin' 2 Myself," a track from 2010's Recovery.
Detroit musician Luis Resto's song "Just So You Don't Die Alone" is sampled on the hook and the bridge. The track is off his 2013 album One Small Light.
The song is from ShadyXV, a compilation album performed by various artists of Shady Records. The record was released to celebrate the label's fifteenth anniversary. Shady Records co-founder Paul Rosenberg explained to Billboard magazine: "Marshall [Mathers] had some music he was looking for a home for, and we were looking for something to possibly attach it to. So when we realized it was our 15th anniversary earlier this year, we decided to create a project to celebrate that. We haven't released a greatest hits for the label yet, so this is it."
Geffen Records made history on June 27, 1994 when Aerosmith's "Head First" became the first major label song made available for exclusive digital download. Download speeds at the time were so slow it took around 75 minutes to download the track.
"Thinking About You" was the ninth track from Calvin Harris' 18 Months album to enter the UK singles Top 10. No other artist has obtained so many hits from one LP - Michael Jackson was the previous record holder with seven Top 10 tunes from both his Bad and Dangerous sets.
