Songfacts®:

  • "Places To Be" is a drum-and-bass love song built on a sample of an unreleased track from the Alabama rapper Chika. She waxes lyrical about the age-old tug-of-war between domestic bliss and the siren song of ambition, yearning for togetherness even when she's busy (she's got "places to be").
  • American singer/rapper Anderson Paak contributes a verse brimming with enthusiasm. He freely admits to having obligations elsewhere, yet his rhymes overflow with deep affection and a burning desire to reunite with his beloved. Fred Again and Anderson Paak already had something in common- they both boast names that have a contentious relationship with proper punctuation: they're often styled Fred again.. and Anderson .Paak.
  • Fred enlisted the help of his brother Benji Gibson and the Jamaican-American singer-rapper Beam to help write the song. Beam has contributed vocals to various Beyoncé anthems, including "Heated," "Cuff It," "Energy."
  • As for the production side of things, Fred joined forces with his buddy Skrillex and with Boo, a man who has often collaborated with Lil Wayne. Fred Again and Skrillex's previous bangers include "Rumble," "Baby Again..," and "Leavemealone."
