Songfacts®:

  • "Let Your Boys Be Country" is a jam where Jason Aldean tells all the mamas to take the bubble wrap off their boys. He's waving the flag for the country way of life and daring moms to let their sons run wild and free.
  • Let 'em go to the woods
In the cold painted up camo green
Yeah let 'em chase, let 'em fall
    For a small-town girl

Aldean's got one message for all parents who've ever dreamed for their kids. Let your boys kick up dust, especially in the heart of the countryside.

"This song's about letting your boys, letting your kids be kids, especially little boys," said Aldean. "Let them go get dirty, play in the mud, go out in the woods, catch some fish, hunt, all those kinds of things."
  • Aldean released "Let Your Boys Be Country" on August 25, 2023, as the follow-up to his #1 single "Try That In a Small Town." Both songs are about the importance of embracing your roots and not being afraid to be yourself.

But there are some key differences between the two songs. "Try That in a Small Town" is about Aldean's own experiences growing up in a small town and the importance of family and community. "Let Your Boys Be Country" is a more universal track, about the importance of letting children be themselves, regardless of where they come from.
  • Allison Veltz Cruz, Jaron Boyer and Micah Wilshire wrote "Let Your Boys Be Country."

Allison Veltz is a multi-genre topliner, lyricist, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who hails from New York but moved to Nashville. She co-wrote the hit songs "Prayed For You" by Matt Stell and "Somebody Like That" by Tenille Arts.

Nashville songwriter Jason Boyer's other credits include Dierks Bentley's "Somewhere on a Beach" and Jason Aldean's "Girl Like You."

Hailing from Roanoke Virginia, Micah Wilshire first played in his family's band at age 3. Once he finished high school, Wilshire relocated to Nashville to become a session guitarist and singer. Within two years, he became a first-call session vocalist and guitarist, appearing on countless recordings and jingles, including multiple Gold and Platinum albums. He's since focused on songwriting and production.
