Songfacts®:

  • "Woman" is a bubbly love song where Kane Brown celebrates how great it feels to have his true partner already locked down. He knows no one else will be a better match, so there's no need to go out and look.
  • Kane Brown wrote the song alongside John Byron, Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson, and Taylor Phillips. The title came to him mid-session. "We were finishing this one song we were working on, and I just got up to go warm up my food, and as I'm warming up my food, this title just falls in my lap, 'They're talking about girls, but I got a woman,'" he explained to Audacy's Katie Neal. "So I went and sat down, and I told em, 'I think I got the next song we're going to work on.'"
  • Like much of Brown's work, the inspiration is not difficult to trace. The song is dedicated to his wife, Katelyn Brown, with whom he has built a life that appears to involve equal parts romance, family, and the occasional cameo opportunity. Married since 2018 and the father of three children, Brown gradually shifted to songs like "Lose It" that captured the giddy rush of falling in love, and "For My Daughter" that hinted at the responsibilities waiting on the other side. "Woman" finds him settled into place, knowing he's right where he's supposed to be.
  • The track was produced by Dann Huff, a Nashville heavyweight known for his work with numerous major country artists. It blends Brown's signature modern, pop-infused country sound with a dance-ready energy.
  • "Woman" was released as a single on March 13, 2026. "It's brought me back to listening to... I don't know why, but 'Man! I Feel Like a Woman!' from Shania Twain and then 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun,'" said Brown. "For some reason it feels like it's in that realm. It's a big realm to be in, but I feel like that's what it's in... once we finished this one, it was a no-brainer that this was the single."
  • The music video was filmed at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. Shot with a vibrant 1990s aesthetic, it features Brown showing off his dance moves in a fun, nostalgic setting. Katelyn Brown and the couple's daughter Kingsley make a special cameo appearance.
  • "Woman" came together during a 2025 songwriting retreat at a rented house in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, just outside Nashville. Kane Brown had already spent the day writing with Taylor Phillips, John Byron, Ashley Gorley and Ben Johnson when inspiration struck in the kitchen.

While rummaging for something to eat, Brown recalled a moment from his own life. A friend had been trying to coax him out for drinks, but Brown found himself looking through a window at his wife instead, questioning the logic of the whole outing. "I was like, 'Why would I go out and be y'all's wing man, when my wife's right here? I'd rather spend time with her,'" he recalled to Billboard. "It just gave me that idea."

The writing team latched onto Brown's idea, building a chorus around repeated variations of "I got a woman." The refrain circles back on itself before flipping perspective with "She got a man," a small but telling detail that underscores the mutual commitment at the heart of the song.

"To be able to pull off the multiple statements in a song that's as ear-wormish and as hooky as that one, man, it's the hardest song to write," Phillips noted to Billboard.

But on this occasion, everything clicked. The group finished the song in about an hour, driven by an authentic story that was easy to translate into lyrics.
