Sexxx Dreams

Album: ARTPOP (2013)

Songfacts®:

  • This throbbing pop anthem contains raunchy lyrics in which Gaga attempts to seduce someone by describing an explicit dream. By the end of the tune Gaga acknowledges how ridiculous she is being, blaming it on having had a couple drinks.
  • The song is part of Lady Gaga's 2013 album ARTPOP, listed as "X Dreams" on the clean version. The album marked a turning point for Gaga as she moved into more adventurous musical territory. Predictably, many fans and critics didn't like it, and there was even chatter that her time on top was over. This strengthened her resolve to keep evolving artistically, which she did with a follow-up album, Joanne (2016), that got even further away from the pop bangers.
  • Gaga debuted the song during her headline performance at the iTunes Festival on September 1, 2013.
