  • Marshmello teamed up with Khalid to release "Numb" on June 10, 2022. The deep house tune differs from their previous collaboration, 2017's "Silence," a dance ballad influenced by R&B.
  • Marshmello and Khalid had always talked about doing another song, so the white-helmeted DJ sent him the idea for "Numb." Though it was a different vibe for the R&B singer, he loved it and sent back his vocals the next day.
  • Khalid sings about letting loose at a late-night party with the girl he's infatuated with. "The message that it conveys, it's just carefree," Marshmello told Apple Music. "The whole song is pretty much about having a good time with your friends, and I love that."
  • Marshmello and Khalid wrote "Numb" with Richard Boardman and Pablo Bowman of the English songwriting collective The Six; English producer Nick Gale, a.k.a. Digital Farm Animals; and LA-based songwriter Aldae (Justin Bieber's "Unstable"). Boardman, Bowman and Digital Farm Animals previously teamed up to co-pen Marshmello's collaboration with Jonas Brothers, "Leave Before You Love Me." Aldae also co-wrote Marshmello's track with Demi Lovato, "OK Not To Be OK."
